Jaipur: The Pink City

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan. The desert capital of India is affectionately referred to as the pink city because of the pink walls and buildings of the old city. The most popular Jaipur attractions and places to visit are the ancient palaces and forts, with elaborate architecture that serves as a resplendent reminder of their royal heritage. It evokes the royal family that once ruled the region and that, in 1727, founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink City”, for its trademark building colour. 

Best things to do in Jaipur

The things to do in Jaipur included adventures activities, temple hopping, visiting so many forts, lakes , dargahs, places and museums. Jaipur sightseeing map is studded with princely forts and citadels. Amber fort, City Palace, Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Jantar mantar, Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Galtaji temple, Govindji temple etc are so beautiful and famous for its regal architecture. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Bajirao Mastani has suddenly put the spotlight on Jaipur’s beautiful Amber Fort. The City Palace is famous for its serene amalgamation of rich Rajasthani and Mughal architecture and intricately designed peacock gates are one of the beautiful things. One of the best places to see in Jaipur is Jal Mahal. It is located in the middle of Lake Man Sagar. The clear water of the lake and the scenic views of the surrounding  Aravallis make the palace look all absolutely stunning, especially at night. 

Galtaji temple is famous for its rather complex structure. The view of the Aravalli hills and the dense greenery are so amazing. The temple comprises of 7 holy water tanks or kunds out of which the Galta Kund is the most significant of all.

The home of the holy shrine of Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chishti, Ajmer gives a glimpse of India’s culture and history through the presence of many attractions like- Happy valley, Taragarh Fort, Akbari Fort & Museum and many more. Distance between Jaipur to Ajmer is 130 km by Road and 98 km by Rails. Aerial distance is 121 km. There is/are 40 direct train(s) from Jaipur to Ajmer.  

People can also visit shopping mall, bazaar’s and enjoy the street foods. Bapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar are famous. These are famous for the variety of Rajasthani products like Chunari saree, Mojari shoes, leather bags, footwear etc. The trip in Jaipur is incomplete without digging into authentic Rajasthani food.  Dal-Baati-Churma is the famous food in Jaipur. Ghevar, Ker Sangri, Laal Maas, Rajasthani Kadi etc are delicious food in Jaipur. But the most popular food is Rajasthani Thali. The street food of Jaipur is not only loved by the locals but is also popular among the visitors. People also try masala chai, bun and muska.  

If anyone visits Jaipur, winter (November to February) is the best time. During these months, temperature during night is considerably low while days are moderate offering a pleasant experience.
