Administering the fourth dose of corona virus vaccine -- Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine -- has been started across the country on Tuesday.
“Four crore people of the country are eligible to get the fourth dose of corona vaccine. But, at present the department has 1 crore 33 lakh vaccines. More vaccines to come. So, we have no problem with vaccinations,”said additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
He said many people have been vaccinated on Tuesday. The department wants to bring a large number of people under this vaccination coverage. Bangladesh has achieved a milestone in vaccination. People of the country are eager to get vaccinated.
The Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHSsaid this while inaugurating the jabbing of fourth dose of vaccines at Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday. He said people aged 60 and over, people aged 18 and over with long-time illnesses, people with weak immune systems, pregnant women and lactating mothers and people considered to be frontline fighters, will get the fourth coronavirus vaccine.
As the antibody of corona vaccine does not last long, the government has restarted the program of the fourth dose of corona vaccine nationwide to prevent the spread of corona virus.
He also said, "So far we have given the first dose to 15 crore people, the second dose to 12.5 crore and the third dose to 6.5 crore people.
“Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine is being given as the fourth dose. There are 11.5 million people over the age of 18. We will gradually give the second booster dose and the fourth dose to everyone,”the DGHS added.
