In a celebration of Bangladesh's rich cultural tapestry and diverse heritage, the Department of Social Science, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) recently organized a captivating poster competition. Themed 'Discovering Bangladesh through the Lens of Posters', the event aimed to shed light on the multifaceted facets of this dynamic nation.
A press release from the Bangladesh Studies course, the driving force behind the competition, highlighted the extensive array of subjects covered in the posters. From the warmth of its people to the intricacies of its cultural mosaic, from its archaeological wonders to its geographical marvels, and from its burgeoning tourism sector to its digital strides, every aspect of Bangladesh found representation.
The event, graced by the esteemed presence of Professor Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor of AIUB, witnessed an enthusiastic participation of students. Professor Rahman, as the Guest of Honor, lauded the students for their keen involvement, underlining the significance of an initiative crafted by and for the students of the Bangladesh Studies course.
The inauguration ceremony, led by Professor Tazul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, commenced with a warm welcome address by Buddha Dev Biswas, Head of the Department of Social Science. The coordination of the competition was masterfully overseen by Buddha Dev Biswas along with Farhana Afroz, Coordinator of the Bangladesh Studies course.
Out of an impressive pool of 80 posters meticulously selected from 40 sections of the Bangladesh Studies course, comprising a staggering 1400 students, three standout teams were honored. Their exceptional posters, focusing on the Development of Bangladesh, Tourism in Bangladesh, and Festivals in Bangladesh, earned them certificates and books as tokens of appreciation.
The event reached its culmination amidst a palpable atmosphere of camaraderie, with students and faculty members of the Social Science department actively participating in a cultural program. It served as a fitting tribute to the vibrancy and vitality of Bangladesh, encapsulated through the creative lens of poster artistry.
