IUB holds Autumn semester’s orientation

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) welcomed the newly enrolled undergraduate students of Autumn 2019 Semester through an orientation ceremony on Saturday at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. Students got enrolled in six different schools namely, School of Business; School of Engineering and Computer Science; School of Environmental Science and Management; School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; School of Life Sciences, and School of Public Health.

Welcoming the newly enrolled students and the parents, Professor Milan Pagon, vice chancellor (VC) (acting), IUB, heartily thanked the parents and students for choosing IUB towards crafting their lives by coping with new opportunities. Professor Pagon advised all students to work hard, possess ‘never give up attitude’, be passionate on what they want to pursue and be employable instead of looking for typical jobs.

Highlighting the academic rules and regulations of the University, Md Anwarul Islam, registrar, IUB requested all students to be abided by them and assured to extend all essential cooperation to the new students and their parents. Dr Mohd Aminul Karim, dean, School of Business; Dr Mohammed Anwer, dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science; Dr Abdul Khaleque, dean, School of Environmental Science and Management; Professor Imtiaz A Hussain, dean (acting), School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; and Dr Syed A K Shifat Ahmed representing School of Life Sciences also welcomed the new students and spoke in the programme by highlighting the strengths, opportunities and progressive learning environments of respective schools.

The event was organized by the Admissions and Financial Aid Office at IUB and was conducted by its Deputy Director, Lima Choudhury.

Later, the newly enrolled students visited and were also oriented by different Schools, Departments, Laboratory experts, Library officials and other Divisions of IUB. Apart from the students, parents, guardians, members of the faculty and management of IUB were present in the orientation programme.
