The authority of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday appointed Dr Muhammad Solaiman, a professor of Da’wah and Islamic Studies department as the new dean of Theology and Islamic Studies faculty of the university. IU vice chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari appointed him to the post for the next two years, IU registrar in charge SM Abdul Latif confirmed.
He replaced Prof Dr A.F.M Akbar Hossain of Al-Quran and Islamic Studies department of the university. Prof Dr Solaiman took charge in a ceremony held at the dean office of the faculty around12:30 pm. IUTA secretary Prof Dr Mostafizur Rahman of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies department conducted the programmewhile newly outgoing dean Professor Dr A.F.M. Akbar Hossain was in the chair.
Among others, Social Science faculty dean Prof Dr Nasim Banu, Engineering and Technology faculty dean Prof Dr M Nozibul Haque, Al-Quran and Islamic Studies department chairman Prof Dr Yaqub Ali, Da’wah and Islamic Syudies chairman Prof Dr Shahid Muhammad Rezwan, Al-Hadith and IslamicStudies department chairman Prof Dr Ashraful Islam, Prof Dr Iqbal Hossain, Prof Dr Akther Hossain, Prof Dr Sayeed Maksudur Rahman attended the programme.
Later, teachers of the faculty handed a crest to the ongoing dean for his contribution to develop the faculty successfully while IU authority congratulated the newly appointed dean.
