Students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia formed a human chain in deman of holding honour’s final year examinations amid coronavirus pandemic with maintaining hygiene and social distance.
Over 50 students of different departments staged the demonstration in front of the administrative building around 11am on Wednesday.
Protesting students said they could not apply for various government and private jobs as their final year examination have been postposed since March due to coronavirus.
The authorities have not taken any initiatives to solve the problems despite many universities have already announced the date for postponed exams, they added.
The students also submitted a memorandum to IU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam at the latter’s office to press their demand home.
VC Prof Salam said the University Grants Commission will hold a meeting on December 13 to decide on the (postponed) examinations and they are waiting for UGC decision.
Otherwise, they will decide on the examinations in the meeting of the IU academic council, he added.
