Professor Dr M Saidur Rahman, students’ advisor of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia died from complications of Covid-19 on Thursday while he was undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.
Dr Saidur, also the Chairman of IU Bangla Department breathed his last around 6:00 am.
He contracted the virus on January 27 and was admitted to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on February 2, IU Bangla Department sources confirmed.
His body will be taken to IU after completion of his first Namaj-E-Janaza at Katlagari village in Shailokupa Upazila of Jhenidah district.
He will be buried at his family graveyard in Meherpur District, sources said.
IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam, IU administrative body, IU Teachers’ Association, IU Shapla Forum, IU Bangbandhu Parishad unit, IU Journalists’ Association and many voluntary social organisations of the university have expressed their condolences at Prof Dr Saidur’s early death.
