First-year classes for new students at Islamic University (IU) began yesterday (Saturday), with the university hosting a warm welcome through orientation programs across various departments. The event aimed to help freshers acclimate to university life and understand the academic expectations they will face in their journey ahead. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah attended the program as the chief guest, encouraging the students to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead and make the most of their university experience. The Department of Public Administration held its orientation at 11 AM, with Prof Dr. Md Fakhrul Islam, the department's chairman, presiding over the event. Other prominent attendees included the Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Prof Dr. AKM Matinur Rahman, Proctor Prof Dr. Md Shahinuzzaman, and Student Adviser Prof Dr. Md Obaidul Islam, all of whom extended a warm welcome to the students and shared their insights about university life.
Orientation programs took place in several departments, including the Department of Development Studies, Department of Communication and Multimedia Journalism, Department of Law, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, and Department of Physical Education and Sports Science. Each department arranged unique welcoming activities to introduce students to campus life, facilitate networking with peers, and guide them on their academic journey.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah urged the freshers to prioritize their studies and engage in meaningful activities. He emphasized the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular pursuits, highlighting that active participation in creative and intellectual activities is essential for success in university life.
