The alumni reunion programme of the Economics department of Islamic University (IU) was held on the campus in Kushtia on Saturday (February 4) amid a festive mood and much enthusiasm.
On the occasion, the IU Economics department brought out a colorful procession from in front of the Mir Mosharraf Hossein Academic building of the university.
The procession ended on the premises of the Beer Shrestha Hamidur Rahman Central Auditorium of the university after parading the main roads of the university.
Later, IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam spoke at the event as the chief guest while Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Mahbubur Rahman, treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya, and Professor Dr Motinur Rahman, Social Science faculty dean were present as special guests. Professor Dr Kazi Mostofa Arif, convenor of the 1st reunion celebration committee, presided over the programme.
A ‘Pitha Utsab’ was also held in front of the Mir Mosharraf Hossain Academic building.
M Belal Uddin, a 2004-2005 sessions Hon’s student of the department expressed his emotion and said it is the best time to meet friends and companions of the department.
After the event, colorful cultural activities were organized at the auditorium.
