IU celebrates 44th founding anniv

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia celebrated its 44th founding anniversary on the campus amid festivity and fanfare.

IU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam hoisted the national flag while Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the Administrative Building and also released pairs of pigeon, sign of peace and balloons around 10:00am.

Later, around one thousand teachers, students, officials and staff of the university brought out a colourful procession from in front of the Administrative Building, led by its Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam. The rally ended at the University’s Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium after parading the main roads on the campus. 

IU VC, Pro-VC, treasurer and registrar placed a wreath at the university mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib’ mural at the university main entrance.

Later, a discussion meeting and cake cutting ceremony and cultural event were held at the auditorium on the campus.

IU VC Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam was the chief guest while IU Pro-VC Professor M Mahbubur Rahman and Treasurer Professor M Alamgir Hussain Bhuiyan were the special guests at the discussion programme.

Shahadat Hossain Azad, Proctor and the convenor of University Day celebration committee presided over the programme. IU acting registrar H. M Ali Hasan delivered the welcome speech.

After the discussion, IU authorities launched the ‘Student E-payment’ system in collaboration with University ICT Cell and Agrani Bank Ltd.

During the discussion meeting VC Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam said ‘In the last 44 years, we have gained many failures and successes also. I believe that a huge difference will be made in the next 1 to 2 years. Students demand many things and we have worked on them, still working and will work in the future. 

In this regard we are launching an E-payment system which leads us one step forward to smart Bangladesh Vision.’

Sometimes we couldn’t finish a work but this doesn’t mean our work should ever stop, he added.

After the inauguration of the E-payment system, a cake cutting session was also held there.
