Islamic University has scheduled to observe the 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 15th August National Mourning Day and 21st August Grenade Attack Day” 2022 to commemorate the grenade attack to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with due dignity.
Various programs have been announced by the university on this occasion. The program includes reading the Holy Quran at the Central Mosque on the night of August 14, asking for the forgiveness of the souls of all the martyrs of August 15, including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On August 15 at 9:30 in the morning, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam and the black flag will be hoisted by Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman. They will be accompanied by Treasurer Professor Dr Md Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan and Registrar (Acting) HM Ali Hasan. At the same time, the provosts of the respective halls will hoist the flags in the halls. 1 minute silence will be observed after hoisting the flag. A mourning rally will be taken out from the administration building premises at 9.45 am. The rally will circumambulate the main main road of the campus and end at the Mrityunjai Mujib Mural.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam will pay tribute on behalf of the university at Mrutunjai Mujib Mural at 10 am. A short discussion will be held there after paying tribute. At the end of the discussion, prayers and prayers will be offered for the peace of the soul of the father of the nation.
Also, special prayers and prayers will be held in all the mosques including the central mosque on August 15 to pray for the peace of the departed souls of all the martyrs, including Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Grenade Attack Day on August 21, a protest rally from the administration building premises will circle the main main road of the campus and end at the Mujib mural.
At the end of the rally, the vice chancellor professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam. After the tributes, a short discussion will be held at Mutyunjai Mujib Mural and prayers and prayers for the souls of those killed in the August 21 grenade attack will be held.
Also, on the occasion of National Mourning Day and Grenade Attack Day, from August 1 to August 21, Bangabandhu's speech will be played through microphones at the main gate from 9 am to 5 pm (except during Zohar and Asr prayers) and tribute banners will be hung at the main gate and administration building.
