Cultural Counsellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bangladesh Seyed Reza Mirmohammadi called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman on Tuesday at the latter’s office of the university.
During the meeting they exchanged views regarding various issues including the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs being conducted by the University of Dhaka and different universities in Iran. They stressed the need for exchange of more students, teachers and researchers among DU and Iranian universities.
The Vice-Chancellor said, an excellent historical relationship has been prevailing between Bangladesh and Iran in the fields of education, research, social, cultural, trade and business for a long time. These friendly ties between the two countries will be further strengthened in the days to come, he hoped.
The Cultural Counsellor invited DU Vice-Chancellor to visit various universities in Iran. He also expressed his willingness to offer scholarships to DU students for higher studies in Iran.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the Iranian diplomat to visit Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic and research activities.
