An alleged iPhone theft was arrested from a shop in the basement of Bashundhara City Shopping Mall in the capital on Friday.
The arrested was identified as Russell Prakash Sagar, 28.
Officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station Mohammad Mohsin confirmed the matter.
He said that the arrested Sagar used to enter Bashundhara City Shopping Mall mobile phone shop in disguise as a customer. Then he stole the iPhone and ran away. He became a panic in the mobile shops of Bashundhara shopping mall.
The OC of Tejgaon Police Station also said that the arrested Sagar only steals the iPhone. Later, he sells it to various shops. His main target is mobile shops in Bashundhara shopping mall. These shops have a lot of phones and are also crowded. Sagar enters the store dressed in such a crowd. When the salesperson becomes busy with other customer and runs away with the iPhone.
On Thursday, he went to a store called ‘Apple Gadgets’. Later, he tried to sneak out of the store with the iPhone. But the salesman saw his attempt to escape. He was later arrested.
