‘Investigative journalism needed to bring out irregularities’

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain said investigative journalism is very much needed to bring out the irregularities and inconsistencies of the country's sports field.

He was speaking in a view exchange meeting with sports journalists regarding the overall development in the sports arena of the country at the National  Sports Council on Monday.

"You have already done many investigative reports and I hope you'll continue the investigative report in the future. We'll bring out the irregularities and inconsistencies of the game through the investigation report." said the  sports adviser. 

He hoped objective and investigative reports from the media in the cleaning campaign of the sports arena and also requested the sports journalists to keep a watchful eye so that irregularities and corruption do not occur  anywhere.

The sports adviser said the youths are now losing interest in sports and the ministry would take initiative and pay attention to revitalize the youth.

He also hoped that the journalists would try to inspire the youths through their journalism.

The adviser highlighted the important role of sports journalists in the 

development and progress of sports. He said, "Corruption occurs in sports organizations through syndicates. Sports involved/organizing student 

representatives and sports journalists have been included to avoid 

syndicates."

In the discussion, emphasis is placed on ensuring accountability in all 

aspects of sports.

The journalists also expressed their various opinions for highlighting the 

irregularities and inconsistencies in the sports field. 

Sports adviser, after listening to the opinions, observations and complaints of the journalists, said these constructive comments would be reviewed and consider seriously. 

Youth and Sports secretary Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed, National Sports Council 

secretary (joint secretary) Aminul Islam and other officials of the ministry were also present there.
