A six-day long 28th International Junior Tennis Championship-2019 (under-18) began at Zafar Imam Tennis Complex in Rajshahi with the main draw matches today.
Around 70 players accompanied by 20 coaches and managers from 12 countries including the host Bangladesh are taking part in the tournament being hosted by the Zafar Imam Tennis Complex in cooperation with Bangladesh Tennis Federation and International Tennis Federation.
The participating countries are: Bangladesh, India, China, Malaysia, South Korea, United States of America, Nepal, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Great Britain and Australia.
Top ITF ranking 34 boy and 34 girl players from draw of 48 in boy singles and 48 in girl singles will play in the main draw matches directly, the complex sources said.
All sorts of necessary preparations were completed to hold the tournament successfully. Commissioner of Rajshahi division Humayun Kabir Khandaker and Deputy Inspector General of Police Hafiz Akter
inaugurated the tournament yesterday afternoon as chief and special guests respectively.
Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, Assistant Indian High Commissioner Sanjib Kumar Vatty, Chairman of the complex Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar Tapu and its general
secretary Ehsanul Huda were present on the occasion.
