Interfaith dialogue to preserve religious harmony held in Rajshahi

A day-long Interfaith Dialogue to preserve religious harmony during pre and the post elections and to 

end the electoral violence was held at a local hotel in Rajshahi on Saturday. 

In cooperation with International Republican Institute, the Dialogue was organised by the Non-government organisation Rural and Urban Poors' Partner for Social Advancement (RUPSA).

Presided over by Hironmoy Mondal, Executive Director of RUPSA, the programme was addressed, among others, by Maulana Md. Mostak Ahmed, Director of Kashful Quran Institute, Rajshahi, Asoke Sanyal, President of Rajshahi Purohit ( Priest) Society, Suresh Chakravarty, Divisional Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Brahman Sangsad central committee, Ephraim Hembrom, Pastor of Rajshahi Church,Dilip Kumar Sarker, Member of Rajshahi Zila Parishad, Asit Kumar Ghose, General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikkya Parishad, Rajshahi district, Imam Abdur Razzak, Golam Mostafa Mamun, Journalist Rimon Rahman, Shafiqul Islam, students Elin Sumaiya Jaman, Rubel Mallik, Tamanna Tabassum Irani, Sultana Ahmed Sagorika, Councillor of RCC, Nakul Pahan, President of Adibashi Chhatra Parishad, Sabitri Hembrom, Vice-President of Adibashi Chhatra Parishad, Shamsul Haque, NGO official, Mukti Rani Das from Dalit Community and Chhatra League leader Monjur Rahman. 

The Programme was conducted by SM Saharuzzaman Sajib, Project Director of RUPSA and was presented through Powerpoint by Samia Zaman, Project Manager of the same organisation.

Speakers in the programme mentioned, there are many failures in choosing leaders of political parties. 

Many controversial persons are getting nominations from political parties and are being elected as public representatives. 

These public representatives are causing huge harm to society. That is why the parties should be more alert in choosing their leaders. Moreover, people should be conscious of using social media and they should refrain from sharing any religious post without verifying it because religious violence is often caused through religious posts. 

They further said, people should avoid a negative mentality and should express their sound mentality through their positive thoughts.
