The International Women's Day was celebrated at Inani Football Stadium, Inani Marine Drive, organised by Social Welfare and Development Corporation (SWDC).
This day is celebrated with the theme "Equal rights, equal opportunities, investment to advance" - this day.On this occasion, on Saturday (March 9) at 10 am, a colourful rally was taken out with various banners, festoons, play-cards of the women's empowerment and awareness raising programme along with nearly four hundred staff of the non-governmental development organization SWDC under the leadership of SWDC Chairperson Jasmine Prema. The rally started from Inani Walk Beach Cafe and ends at Inani Football Stadium next to the beach. At the end of the rally, a human chain was organized under the leadership of SWDC Chairperson Jasmine Prema with the slogan "Tourism Be Women Friendly". SWDC chairperson in the human chain said, we on behalf of Scas want to call on this women's day that no female tourist should be a victim of sexual harassment. Tourism should be women and child friendly. He also said that in the country where the Prime Minister is a woman, we hope that women tourists will return home safe and free from harassment.
At the end of the manbandhan, a wonderful cultural event was organized, in which the SWDC workers performed songs, poems and jokes. At the end of the interesting cultural ceremony, various sports were organised.
Sports include football, pillow play, chair play, bone breaking etc. The staff and guests of SWDC participated in the said sport. At the end of the game, everyone had lunch.
After lunch a panel discussion was organised on the occasion of International Women's Day. SWDC Chairperson Jasmine Prema presided over the meeting.
Cox's Bazar Press Club General Secretary Mujibul Islam was present as the chief guest.
