Int’l Women’s Day observed in Rajshahi, Faridpur

The International Women's Day was observed on Friday at Godagari of Rajshahi through various programmes. The programmes include rallies, human chains and discussion meetings. 

Organised by CCBVO and Raskhagola Coordination Committee in cooperation with Bread for the World Germany, International Women's Day was observed with the slogan 'The Investment should be aimed at equal rights and equal facilities for women' under Raskhagola village oriented Stable Food Security Programm in Kakonhat of Godagari of Rajshahi. 

A total of 120 leaders and activists of the Raskhagola organisation participated in the programme.

A rally was brought out in the morning from the Kakonhat CCBVO branch of Kakonhat that paraded various streets before converging for a human chain at the Chowrastha crossing. Later, a meeting was held at the Training Centre of the CCBVO.

Presided over by the President of the Raskhagola Coordination Committee, Saral Ekka, the meeting was addressed, among others, by the Member of the Female Development Committee of the organisation Lalmoni Paharia, Member of Gordaing Raskhagola Village Organisation Kathrina Hasda, Coordinator of CCBVO Md. Arif, AHM Tarik, Nibarul Islam and Prodip Mardi.    

Faridpur Correspondent adds:  Faridpur Municipality organised a procession and discussion meeting on the occasion of the International Women's Day, keeping in mind the theme of 'Women's equal rights, equal opportunities, investment should be taken forward'.

A procession was brought out from the premises of Faridpur Municipality at around 11:30 on Monday. 

Faridpur Municipality Mayor Amitabh Bose inaugurated the procession as the chief guest.

The procession starts from Faridpur Municipality premises, paraded Mujib Road, Shaheed Sufi Road, Chowrangi Junction, the road in front of Mother and Child Welfare Center and returned to the Municipality premises via Brahm Samaj Road.

Later, a discussion meeting was organised in the premises of the municipality. It was chaired by the chief executive officer Shah Jahan Mia of the municipality. 

Among others, Poura Mayors Monirul Islam, Matiur Rahman, Afroza Sultana, Executive Engineer Shamsul Alam, municipal social development officer Syed Ahaduzzaman participated in the discussion.

 Speakers said, half of total population of a country is women. No country can achieve the desired goal of development by keeping women unemployed. 

For this reason, women should have equal rights in the society with equal participation. The progress of the country is not possible if women do not participate in development work along with men.
