A two-day long International Hybrid Conference on ‘Post-Covid Japan: Economy, Politics, Society, Culture and Literature’ has begun on Friday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU).
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference as chief guest.
The Department of Japanese Studies of DU organized the event.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked the organizers for arranging the conference on ‘Post-COVID Japan: Economy, Politics, Society, Culture and Literature’.
The Vice Chancellor hoped that the conference will play an effective role in formulating policy to overcome Post-COVID challenges in Bangladesh.
Terming Japan as one of the largest development partners of Bangladesh DU VC said, a friendly relationship between the two countries has been prevailing for long time. He emphasized on strengthening academic and cultural relationship between these two countries.
Chairman of the Department of Japanese Studies Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun Presided over the conference while Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh Mr ITO Naoki addressed it as special guest.
Director General of Japan Foundation, India Koji Sato, and Dean of the Faculty of Social Science of DU Professor Dr Zia Rahman and Founder Chairman of the Department of Japanese Studies Professor Dr Abul Barkat also addressed it. Associate Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam delivered welcome speech while Assistant Professor Shiblee Noman conducted the program. It may be mentioned that academicians and researchers from 15 countries including Bangladesh, USA, Japan, China, India, Philippine, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Africa, Uganda, Brazil and Palestine are participating in the conference.
