International Human Rights Day was observed in Jhenaidah with a view to ensure human rights for all to turn ahead once again. A colourful rally was brought out in the town by Bangladesh human rights council Jhenaidah Sadar upazila unit and Human rights monitoring organization on Thursday morning.
Bangladesh human rights council rally started from Pairachattar in the town and ended at the starting point parading main roads. A human chain was formed there. Jhenaidah-Magura reserved women seat lawmaker Khaleda Khanam, commission’s president Sheikh Wasiqur Rahman, general secretary Shahidur Rahman among others spoke there.
Human rights monitoring organization (HRMO) also brought out a rally in the town and arranged a discussion at Jhenaidah press club auditorium with unit president Shamimul Islam in the chair.
Jhenaidah Mahila Sangstha president Dipti Rahman attended the programme as chief guest. Jhenaidah press club resident M Raihan, Sechchhasebak League Jhenaidah district unit president Ahadur Rahman Khokan, Wazir Ali school and college principal Habibur Rahman, Pragati kindergarten school director Abul Kalam Azad, senior journalist Delwar Kabir among others spoke. BM Anwar Hossain conducted the discussion.
The speakers urged upon the people to ensure rights at their home first and work united to establish the same for the interest of the human being. They said not only the women, but also the men are harassed by some of the women which is also the violation of human rights.
