Int’l Human Rights Day observed at IU

International human rights day-2022 observed at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday amid festive mood and much enthusiasm. 

Marking the day, the Law and Land Management department brought out a rally from the Mir Mosharraf Hossain academic building around 11:00am. The rally was ended at the feet of the‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib Mural’ after parading the main roads of the campus premises. 

Later, a discussion on the day was held in front of the Moral. 

At the beginning of the discussion, IU pro vice-chancellor inaugurated the event by releasing pigeons, the symbol of peace. 

Presided over by Law and Land Management department Assistant Sahida Akter, IU Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman spoke here as the chief guest while treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya delivered speech as the special guest.

IU Proctor Professor Dr Jahangir Hossain and IQAC director Dr Mohabbat Hossain were present here. Around 200 teachers and students of the department participated at the event. Bilashi Saha, assistant professor of the department conducted the programme. 

‘The student should play a role in establishing human rights and this is our conviction today’ said Pro-VC Dr Mahbubur Rahman in his speech.
