Various government and non-government organizations in Jhenaidah have on Wednesday marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The day was observed with forming a human chain in front of the Jhenaidah Post office turning aiming at the women shall overcome all barriers.
Government and non-government organizational office executives and common people participated in the human chain where deputy director of the directorate of women affairs Nilufr Rahman, assistant commissioner, also executive magistrate of the office of the deputy commissioner Mokleda Khanam Mim, Jatiya Mahila sangstha chairman Dipti Rahman, committee for concern citizen (CCC) member Suraiya Parvin Moli, human rights activists Nurunnahahr Kusum, Welfare Efforts (WE) executive director Sharifa Khatun among others spoke there.
The speakers urged upon the people of all walks of life to come forward to prevent women repression and establish the country based on gender-equity free from all odds like multi marriage, child marriage, dowry, divorce as desired by the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
