A 2-day long international conference on ‘Physics in Medicine’ ends today at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU). DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman presided over the inaugural function of the conference on Thursday while Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman attended it as chief guest.
The inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) Chairman Professor Md Sanowar Hussain, Director of National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) Professor Qazi Mushtak Hussain, Professor Salahuddin Ahmad and Professor M Aminul Islam. Bangladesh Medical Physics Association (BMPA), Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and DU Biomedical Physics and Technology Department have jointly organised the conference.
Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman said, medical physicists need more research, education and training for development of health sector. The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken adequate measures for enhancement of health services in the country, he pointed out.
DU VC stressed the need for using latest technologies, methods and facilities in health sectors for better treatment of the patients. He urged the medical physicists to make new technological innovations for
further advancement of this sector. We are passing through the 4th Industrial Revolution and medical physicists must play a vital role to cope with the challenges of this revolution, DU VC hoped.
A large number of medical physicists, teachers and researchers from home and abroad participated at this conference.
