A Dengue scare is pervading all over the country as the number of dengue cases and deaths is alarming hiking day by day.
Amidst this panic-stricken situation, educational institutions open today (Sunday) after the end of the Eid-ul-Adha holidays. Under the circumstances, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education issued five instructions to all concerned educational institutions, instructing them to take measures for protecting students from Dengue.
Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSI) Professor Nehal Ahmed on Saturday confirmed that five- point instructions have been given to all educational institutions to prevent dengue for the safety of students.
The directives, issued by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, said, "There has been an outbreak of dengue in different parts of the country. Many people have been affected by it. Places where water accumulates in the playgrounds and buildings of educational institutions, water accumulated in flower tubs are perfect breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.
Therefore, to prevent the spread of dengue, every educational institution in the country has been instructed to take preventive measures after the opening of the educational institutions after the holidays."
He further said that according to the instructions, one or more teams consisting of employees, scouts, BNCC and students should be formed under the leadership of teachers of the concerned institution in order to carry out cleanliness drive. The team will carry out dengue prevention activities. The school and its surroundings will be identified to clean the places where clearwater accumulates. Dengue eggs hatch in stagnant water in open containers, so bathroom containers and buckets must be checked. Harpic needs to be poured in comodes before closing the lids and Harpic should also be poured in the pans with closing mouths with bags or something else.
Although, educational institutions have been closed since June 25, due to lack of cleanliness during long holidays, fear is ripe of creation of dengue mosquito breeding grounds in playgrounds, surrounding areas, educational institutions. This fear is increasing due to the possibility of accumulation of water of rain during the closure of educational institutions.
