Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” has now become one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time, surpassing the 2012 hit “The Avengers.” The new film has earned nearly US $1.524 billion worldwide, putting it at number 10 on the list. “The Avengers” previously held the 10th spot with earnings of US $1.521 billion.
According to Box Office Mojo, James Cameron’s “Avatar” from 2009 remains the highest-grossing film ever, with a total of US $2,923,706,026. The second spot is held by “Avengers: Endgame” from 2019, which made US $2,799,439,100.
“Avatar: The Way of Water,” also by James Cameron, ranks third with US $2,320,250,281, while “Titanic,” another of Cameron’s films from 1997, is fourth with US $2,264,750,694. Other top-grossing films include “Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens” (2015).
“Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021), “Jurassic World” (2015), and “The Lion King” (2019).
“Inside Out 2” has earned US $1,525,262,246 and has become the highest-grossing film of 2024 so far. The movie, which opened in theaters on June 14, explores new emotions in Riley’s mind, such as Anxiety and Envy, alongside the familiar characters Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust.
If “Inside Out 2” continues to do well, it may move up on the list. To reach the ninth position, it needs to surpass “The Lion King,” which earned US $1,656,943,394.
