‘Inside Out 2” has made history by becoming the first animated film to surpass $1 billion at the global box office. This milestone sets the film apart as one of only twelve releases to reach this mark, with the others all being live-action movies.

While many films have hit the $1 billion mark globally, only twelve have done so from international markets alone. Among these, eleven were live-action. Disney’s 2019 remake of “The Lion King” grossed $1.1 billion internationally but was categorized as live-action rather than animated. Therefore, “Inside Out 2” is the first animated film to join this exclusive club.

The film’s success shows its global appeal, with top foreign markets including Mexico, Brazil, the U.K., France, and Korea. In Mexico, “Inside Out 2” earned $102.2 million. Brazil contributed $80 million, while the U.K. saw $72.7 million. France added $62.6 million, and Korea brought in $60.8 million. Disney’s Pixar sequel has become the highest-grossing movie of the year, earning $1.649 billion worldwide. This total includes $1.002 billion from international markets and $646.3 million from domestic sales. A few weeks ago, “Inside Out 2” surpassed “Frozen II” to become the highest-grossing animated film in history.

This achievement highlights the film's broad international appeal and marks a significant milestone for animated movies in the global box office landscape.
