The government has decided to vaccinate 12-17 year old students of all educational institutions outside Dhaka, along with the those in the capital.
With that aim, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed the educational institutions to fill in the students’ information in a particular sheet and send it to the concerned Upazila or Thana Secondary Education Officer through e-mail by October 23.
This directive was given in a notification signed by DSHE Director General (DG) Professor Syed Md Golam Faruk on Sunday.
Upazila / Thana Secondary Education Officers have to send it to the e-mail address of the District Education Officer by October 25, the notification reads.
Later, the District Education Officers will have to to fill in the specific information and send it to the e-mail address addshesecondary2@gmail.com by October 27.
The information must be filled in English and sent as an attached specified file in the email. Mentioning the matter very urgent, it has been asked to provide name of a student, 17-digit birth registration number, name of the organization, code of the organization, date of birth and mobile number of the guardian in the information table.
Earlier on October 16, the DSHE DG said 40,000 students of this age group will be vaccinated every day, which is likely to begin on October 30.
Meanwhile on October 14, DSHE directed all educational institutions in Dhaka metropolitan area to send information of students aged 12 to 17 by October 19, for jabbing them with Covid-19 vaccine.
The students’ vaccination campaign began on October 14 with a total of 120 students, initially jabbed with Pfizer in Manikganj as a trial run. The students will be monitored for 10 to 14 days in advance, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
Covid-19 vaccination drives have been ongoing in the country since February this year. Until October 14, however, the vaccine was only available to adults.
Following the vaccination of children under 18 in several countries, the vaccine for students was also introduced in Bangladesh.
