An eight-year old boy died due to wrong operation of tonsil by an ear-nose-throat (ENT) surgeon in a private hospital in the city.
The ill-fated boy was identified as Mostakim,8, son of Ramjan Ali, resident of Boktab Ali village under Fatulla model police station.
Deceased’s father Ramjan Ali said that his son was admitted at Al-Hera general hospital (Pvt) in the town and Dr Abdullah Al Mamun conducted tonsil operation on March 9 night. Later, the patient was kept in a post-operative room for recovery from unconsciousness.
Ramjan Ali on March 10 rushed to the hospital to see his son's condition and the boy was found dead. He did not find any physician, nurse and staff at the early hours of the day.
When information reached the Narayanganj Sadar Model thana, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Ramjan Ali demanded trial of physician Abdullah Al Mamun and hospital management for his son’s demise. His son died due to wrong treatment, he added.
No case was filed with police till evening of Sunday.
District Civil Surgeon Dr. Mushiur Rahman said that he was informed and formed a three-member committee to find out the reason behind death within seven working days.
