A three-day Indonesian trade expo and festival titled ‘Indonesia Fair 2019’ is set to begin today at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city.
The Embassy of Indonesia in Dhaka is organising the showcase for increasing the visibility of Indonesia in Bangladesh through familiarization of its products, culture, tourism and fashion, as well as encouraging entrepreneurs and companies to expand their businesses in Bangladesh, report agencies. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi is expected to attend the opening session of the fair as the chief guest on Thursday while the Indonesian ambassador in Dhaka will deliver the welcome speech.
More than 30 companies from Indonesia are participating in the trade fair to display Indonesian products, ranging from the traditional batik, jewelry, fashion and handicrafts to services food and beverages, aviation, banking, pharmaceutical, building material, military equipment and tourism destinations.
On the sideline of the fair, Indonesia-Bangladesh Business and Investment Forum will also be held on April 26 with panelists from Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Indonesia Investment Board.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon is expected to join the forum as the chief guest while BIDA Executive Chairman Kazi M Aminul Islam, BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury and Chairman of Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board Thomas T Lembong, among others, will be present as panelists.
A number of programmes such as two-day fashion shows, traditional dance performances and talk shows will be held on the sidelines of the fair.
