Indonesia a potential market for Bangladeshi medicine, jute, leather goods

Indonesian envoy says at meeting with IBFB leaders

Indonesia may be the large market for Bangladeshi medicines, agricultural products, poultry, jute, leather goods and footwear, said Heru Hartanto Subolo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka, 

Subolo urged Bangladeshi business community to explore Indonesia for tourism. 

The Ambassador made remarks while exchanging views during his recent visit at IBFB office to attend a discussion meeting with the Board of Directors and the Key Officers of IBFB about exploring bilateral business relationship with Bangladesh and Indonesia. 

The meeting was held at IBFB Conference Hall. 

 “Cooperation in the Energy and Agriculture sectors, export of Bangladeshi products to the Indonesian market and also the products of Indonesia to Bangladesh market may get priority”, the envoy added.

He said through collaboration in international forums and bilateral trade and investment, Bangladesh could be the business partner of Indonesia. The main products that Indonesia exported to Bangladesh in 2021 were Palm Oil ($1.36B), Coal Briquettes ($432M), 

and Cement ($166M). Bangladesh exports jute yarn, knit T-shirts 

and non-knit women’s suits, 

and the amount of export is increasing. 

IBFB President Humayun Rashid displayed the role and functionaries of IBFB. IBFB Directors and members were present at the event. Among others Hafizur Rahman Khan, Immediate Past President, IBFB; M.S. Siddiqui, Vice President, IBFB; Lutfunnisa Saudia Khan, Vice President Finance, IBFB; Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid, Adviser, IBFB and Former Secretary and Chairman, NBR; Syed Mustafizur Rahman, Director, IBFB; Engr. Razeeb Haider, Director, IBFB; Engr. Utpal Kumar Das, Chairman, Liaison Committee, IBFB; Md. Jahangir Kabir (Shimul), Vice Chairman, Liaison Committee, IBFB; S M Wahiduzzaman Babur, Vice-Chairman, Finance Committee, IBFB; and Matiur Rahman, Life Member, IBFB, were present in the meeting.
