The Government of India is giving 109 ambulances to Bangladesh as gift on the occasion of birth centenary of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Among them the first ambulance entered Bangladesh through Benapole Land Port in Jashore on Monday morning. The rest of the ambulances will arrive in phases before and after the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh.
However, Modi will formally hand over the ambulances to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of Bangabandhu's birth centenary in Dhaka.
Uttara Motors High official Zakaria Imtiaz said, “The ambulance that arrived on Monday was kept at Benapole port shed. After finishing the formalities of the port and customs it will be taken to the capital.”
Benapole Customs House Commissioner Azizur Rahman said, “Once the ambulances arrive at the port, arrangements would be made to release them on a priority basis.”
