India build massive lead over Bangladesh

India firmly established their dominance in the opening Test against Bangladesh, amassing a substantial 308-run lead by the end of Day 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.

The home side closed the day at 81 for three, with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant remaining unbeaten on 33 and 12 respectively. This came after a clinical bowling performance saw them dismiss Bangladesh for a paltry 149.

Bangladesh's bowling attack, led by Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, and Mehedi Hasan Miraz, each securing three wickets, had earlier managed to bowl India out for 376. Hasan Mahmud was particularly impressive, claiming five wickets, while Taskin Ahmed contributed with three.

Despite their efforts with the ball, Bangladesh's batting lineup crumbled under the pressure of India's pace attack. Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer, taking four wickets, while Akash Deep and Mohammad Siraj chipped in with two wickets each.

The visitors struggled to build any significant partnerships, with Shakib Al Hasan's 32 being the highest individual score. This highlighted the batting woes of the Bangladeshi side, as they failed to mount a substantial resistance against the disciplined Indian bowlers.
