Indexed teachers will rally with a long march and human chain event on Sunday and Monday, to demand the transfer of MPO teachers to vacant positions across private educational institutions. The demonstration is scheduled for August 25 and 26, with teachers gathering in front of central Shaheed Minar before marching towards the Secretariat.
The movement is organized by the "Unity Parishad Seeking Public Notification for the Transfer of Indexed Teachers." Lecturer Sarwar, president of the group, condemned the current system as discriminatory. He criticised the mutual transfer policy issued for 500,000 teachers, calling it a "farce" and emphasising the need for a fair transfer system for indexed teachers facing discrimination.
Sarwar argued that indexed teachers have long been marginalised, and their demand for a transfer system to address vacant posts remains unmet. The upcoming protest aims to pressure authorities to implement a more equitable transfer policy.
Earlier, on August 13, the chief adviser and other officials from the Ministry of Education, including the secretary, additional secretary, senior assistant secretary, NTRC chairman, and former DUCSU VP, met with teachers to discuss their demands. Despite these efforts, the teachers feel their concerns have not been adequately addressed.
The long march will begin at 9 am on both days, with participants forming a human chain to further highlight their cause. Sarwar has called on all indexed teachers to join in solidarity to ensure the success of the demonstration and push for necessary reforms.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to address the systemic issues faced by indexed teachers and to advocate for policies that ensure fairness and equal opportunities in the education sector.
