Ashraful Alam Liton, an independent candidate and joint general secretary of district Awami League, was attacked by his opponent candidate during the election campaign in Jashore -1 constituency, Benapole on Tuesday noon.
At this time, 10 of his leaders and workers were injured.
Ashraful Alam Liton, the independent candidate, said in an interview with reporters that supporters of the ‘Boat’ candidate attacked him when he went to the election campaign in Chhota Achra village of Benapole on Tuesday morning.

He also alleged that several of his cars were vandalised by the attackers.
On information, the police quickly went to the spot and managed to bring the situation under control.
Liton also said that voters want to vote for him in this constituency, but the terrorists have been threatening my supporters not to go to the polling station.
“I seek intervention of the Chief Election Commissioner for fair poll in this constituency,” he said.
Benapole Port Police Station Additional SP Belal Hossain said, “As soon as we got the information, we rushed to the spot and Liton was rescued.”
Later, supporters of Independent candidate Liton protested against the incident and demanded justice.
