Although coronavirus infection is under control in the country, it is on the rise again in European and neighbouring Asian countries.
The government's National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 has expressed concern over the increased number of infections and at the same time, they have made six-point recommendations to control the infection.
The recommendations were made in a press release signed by NTAC President Prof Mohammad Sahidullah.
Although the transmission of Covid-19 is declining in Bangladesh, it is increasing in various countries of Asia and Europe including neighbouring countries, which is a cause for concern.
The National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 fears that if not alerted now, the infection could spread to our country as well.
Therefore, the technical committee has recommended to follow the hygiene rules including wearing proper mask and ensuring social distance to control the infection. At the same time, it is recommended to increase publicity to create awareness among all.
NTAC recommended to ensure vaccinated negative certificates on arrival in Bangladesh from those countries where the rate of infection is high, and to strengthen screening at the public entrance in all ports.
The committee further stressed to ensure that people wear masks while traveling, shopping and traveling home.
It was recommended that the Ministry of Health organise a meeting with the hospitals and the Directorate General of Health Services to give necessary directions in this regard and alert the hospitals against Covid-19.
They also suggested strengthening genome sequencing and surveillance.
