The 'Income Tax Service Month-2022' began across the country on Tuesday in a bid to facilitate the taxpayers in submitting their returns and paying taxes.
The taxpayers would get additional services throughout the month from November 1 to November 30 at the different taxes zone apart from the usual services for submitting returns.
National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem formally inaugurated the "Income Tax Service Month-2022" at a programme held at the conference room of NBR Tuesday.
The revenue board launched the tax service month in a bid to facilitate taxpayers' return submission for the 2022-23 tax year.
Mentioning that the NBR declared the month of November as "Tax Service Month" back in 2020, the NBR chairman said that all the taxes zone have been set up to receive income tax returns of their respective taxpayers in a festive environment.
The revenue board chairman said it would provide services to the taxpayers in a festive mood at its all 649 circles under 31 taxes zone across the country.
The last day for submitting tax returns under the Tax Service Month is November 30, which is observed as 'Tax Day' by the NBR. Taxpayers will also be able to submit tax returns online.
Like the Income Tax Fair, the taxpayers would be able to enjoy various tax related services throughout the month at different taxes zone.
Besides, various activities will continue throughout the month to ensure flourish of tax culture, increasing tax awareness, and gaining trust and confidence of the taxpayers.
The NBR this time expects that the submission of tax returns would cross 20 lakh in this November, the last month of tax return filling for this year.
Officials said mandatory return submission evidence to get some essential services and budgetary amnesties for the TIN holders, who have never filed their tax returns, would reflect positively in the return submission.
According to the revenue board, around 14.50 lakh returns were filed till November 30 last year, of which around 12 lakh returns were filed in just November, during the month of tax service.
After extension of return filling deadline, the submission of income tax return was around 23 lakh.
The officials said in the first quarter of the current financial year, some 3.30 lakh income tax returns were submitted.
At present, the number of registered taxpayers is 81.82 lakh while around 25 lakh taxpayers on average submit income tax returns.
Meanwhile, the NBR has taken special initiative to create awareness among the countrymen on paying tax. Various posters, stickers, colourful festoons, and banners bearing motivational slogans on income tax are being installed at the taxes zone.
The new taxpayers would be able to make their e-TIN registration at the booths of different taxes zone subject to providing necessary information while the existing taxpayers would also be able to make re-registration.
Besides, the taxpayers would also be able to pay taxes online through e-payment.
