Improve teacher-student relation beyond party affiliation: ERDFB

Education, Research and Development Forum of Bangladesh (ERDFB) has called for improving the relationship between teachers and students irrespective of party affiliation to take Smart Bangladesh forward through research.

In a statement recently, ERDFB President Prof Sazzad Hossain requested all teachers and students to contribute from respective fields to improve environment at universities which affected by unprecedented situation amid ‘quota’ movement.

“When Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is moving Bangladesh towards a developed smart economy,  a quarter cashed on students protest to run anarchy at universities, the centers of excellence to drive growth through research, in planner manner to hamper growth,” said Dr Sazzad, also a member at University Grants Commission (UGC).

The academician further said that the anti-liberation forces of the country and activists of Jamaat-Shibir who never believed independence of Bangladesh have attacked mega infrastructures like Bangladesh Television, Expressway and Metrorail.

“Many innocent students and commoners lost their lives in the conflict. We believe that conflict 

never leads to resolution,” Dr Sazzad added.

ERDFB believes that the university will play a leading role in building a prosperous Bangladesh of the future in the spirit of the liberation war by protecting the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh regardless of party affiliation.

“If we create division among ourselves, the progress of Bangladesh will be disrupted as well as all the achievements will fade away when other countries are moving forward,” added the statement.

Prof Sazzad said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has assured that all perpetrators behind the recent mayhem will be brought to justice.

“We, teachers and students, should contribute to the development of the country excelling in education and research upon reopening of campus,” he said.
