Director General (DG) of Bangladesh National Nutrition Council (BNCC) Dr Zubaida Nasrin has underscored the need for implementing the action plans regarding nutrition to build Smart healthcare system through ensuring nutrition for all.
She made the comments while addressing abi-monthly meeting of Sundarganj upazila Nutrition Coordination Committee(UNCC) held at the conference room of upazila parishad in the district on Friday as the chief guest.
UNCC arranged the meeting under SONGO (Sustained Opportunity for Nutrition Governance)project being implemented in Gaibandha and Kurigram districts by RDRS Bangladesh and Cordaid Netherlands with the financial support of European Union with UNO and also President of UNCC Md. Tariqul Islam in the chair.
Moderated by deputy director of BNNC Dr. Akhter Imam, the meeting was addressed, among others, by upazila heath and family planning officer Dr. Sayeed Muhammad Amrullah, upazila agriculture officer Rashedul Kabir, upazila secondary education officer Abdul Momin Mondal, upazila primary education officer Anwarul Islam, upazila livestock officer Dr. Sumona Akhter, Union parishad Chairman Mozharul Islam, journalists Sahjahan Miah and Abdul Mannan Akond, nutrition governance adviser of SONGO Project Maniruzzaman Mukul, district manager of the project Abu Walid Sohag, upazila project officer Mohidul Islam, technical officer Habubur Rahman and representative of CARE Bangladesh Monotosh Kumar Madhu.
"Nutrition helps build human body and provide energy for the full range of physical and mental activities that make up human life. Taking this in view, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina adopted action plans to ensure nutrition for all to have a healthy nation. In this perspective, she suggested all the concern to make the action plans fruitful anyhow", Dr Zubaida also said.
Earlier, a power point presentation on the activities and progress of SONGO project in the upazila was done for briefing all the participants.
The BNCC DG witnessed the presentation and then urged the concerned to be more serious and active to implement the nutrition activities properly in the upazila in a bid to attain the cherished goals of UNCC, DNCC as well as BNNC to present Smart health to the nation to help build Smart Bangladesh by 2041, a farsighted vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
All members of UNCC and inviter persons, town elite including journalists participated in the meeting.
