‘Imams, Khatibs have to play active role in protecting society’

State Minister for Religion Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan has said that the role of the respected Khatib, Imam and Ulama Keram of the mosque is very important in the recent consolidation of religion in the country and in tackling various social problems. Imams and Khatibs have to play a vigilant and active role as religious and social leaders in this regard so that no one can destroy communal harmony in any way by creating religious frenzy in the country.

Minister of State for Islampur Upazila Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center today organized by Islamic Foundation, Islampur (Jamalpur) with the funding of Imam Training Academy in the fiscal year 2021-2022. This was stated by the chief guest at the exchange of views and the conference of imams trained at the upazila level.

The state minister said considering the important position of Khatib, Imam and Ulama in the society, the government is involving them in the social and economic development activities of the country.

The state minister said that the Prophet had established the ideal of a non-communal state in the world by governing the state of Madinah through the treaty of the people of Madinah and the Medina Charter.

The State Minister further said that under the leadership of the Father of the Nation, our beloved motherland Bangladesh has been earned in exchange for the honor of thirty martyrs and two lakh mothers and sisters. Our sacred constitution has given people of all religious communities the right to practice their religion freely.

 The state minister said that although some people do politics in the name of religion, the Awami League government has contributed the most in the service of Islam in this country.

The state minister said the Islamic Foundation was established in this country by the Father of the Nation to spread and propagate the correct ideology and teachings of Islam. He has made significant contributions to the service of Islam and the welfare of the Muslim Ummah, including the allocation of land on the banks of the Turag for the World Ejtema.

The state minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already made an outstanding contribution to the service of Islam by following the ideals and principles of the Father of the Nation. He is constructing 560 model mosques and Islamic cultural centers in the country at a cost of around Tk 9,000 crore. Imam Muazzin has arranged for the employment of millions of scholars, including the establishment of a welfare trust.

The state minister further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has now evolved from a least developed country to a developing country. The government is implementing various social security programs by bringing the underprivileged and low income people of the society under different allowances.

 The conference was chaired by Islampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanvir Hasan Ruman and was also addressed by Jamalpur Superintendent of Police Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Islampur Upazila Parishad Chairman Advocate SM Jamal Abdun Naser Babul, Islamic Foundation Jamalpur Office Deputy Director Md Abdur Razzak and Islampur Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Abdul Khaleq Akand. Acting Principal of Parvez Memorial Women's Degree College Jamal Abdun Naser Charles Chowdhury, former Vice President of Bangladesh Awami League Islampur Upazila Branch Mujibur Rahman Shahjahan, heroic freedom fighter Shahadat Hossain Swadhin and others.
