An imam of a mosque died and another imam was seriously injured after their motorcycle collided with a CNG-run autorickshaw at Raozan upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday.
The deceased Syedul Haque was of the Puichari Union of Banskhali upazila. He was the Pesh Imam of the Aylikhil Baytun Noor Jame Mosque in Roazan. The injured is Hafez Maulana Ali Hossain (42) of the Chambal Union of Banshkhali Upazila. He is the Pesh Imam of Ailikhil Dawat Khola Bar Auliya Astana Sharif Jame Masjid. He has been admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment. Zainal Abedin, sub-inspector of Raozan Police Station, confirmed the matter. The autorickshaw driver and some passengers were injured in the incident, but their identities were not found immediately.
According to an eyewitness, the auto rickshaw collided with the motorcycle, causing the auto rickshaw to overturn and fall into a ditch.
"We went to the spot after receiving the information. One was found dead, and the other was sent to the hospital. The two vehicles were impounded," said the SI.
