Bangladesh Railway Pakshi office conducted a drive in Joypurhat district town on Wednesday to evict the illegal establishments built on the land of Joypurhat Railway.
Estate Officer of Bangladesh Railway Pakshi Estate Department Abdur Rahim conducted the drive at 11:30am.
Divisional Engineer of Parbatipur Railway Birbal Mondol, Assistant Executive Engineer of Railway Rakib Hassan, Senior Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Joypurhat district commission Md Mahmudul Hasan, Railway Kanungo, Railway Police and security staff members were present at that time.
Divisional Estate Officer Abdur Rahim said some individuals had illegally built more than fifty establishments by occupying the area adjacent to the Joypurhat district town rail line and they were conducting business there for a long time. They did not move their establishments even though they were repeatedly notified about it. So, these illegal establishments are now being evicted.
The eviction drive will continue by evicting all the illegal establishments until the railway lands are recovered, said the Divisional Estate Officer.
