The IGP has directed the officials to bring the central Shaheed Minar under watch and ensure maximum security in the major cities of the country to avert any untoward incident on the upcoming International Mother Language and Shaheed Day .
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun gave this order in a virtual meeting at the police headquarters on Thursday (February 16) morning.
Meanwhile, all Metropolitan Commissioners of Police, Range DIGs, District Superintendents of Police and heads of other unit were present in the virtual meeting.
Additional IGP (Administration) Kamrul Ahsan, Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Atiqul Islam, Additional IGP (Logistics and Asset Acquisition) Mazharul Islam and other senior officers were also present at the police headquarters.
Meanwhile, the IGP said, as was in the past, the citizens of the country will be able to celebrate the 21st February in a safe manner. In order to deal with any unpleasant situation on the 21st February, intelligence information and security risks should be reviewed and security measures should be taken.
Besides, strict action should be taken against those spreading rumours. At the same time, he also instructed to closely monitor the social media.
