The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) successfully organized a comprehensive workshop on the Dynamics of Shareholders’ Meeting in Hybrid Platform on Saturday, 24 February 2024. The event, held at the premises of ICSB, brought together key stakeholders from various sectors including Chartered Secretaries in Practice, Independent Scrutinizers, Independent Service Providers, Company Secretaries from different companies and ICSB Members.
This workshop was a collaborative effort between the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB), Bangladesh Securities & Exchange Commission (BSEC) and Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC, with the shared objective of enhancing awareness among stakeholders regarding the dynamics of shareholder meetings in hybrid platforms, a release of ICSB said.
The event commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Hafez Mohammad Nurul Islam, setting a respectful tone for the proceedings. Mr. M Nurul Alam FCS, Senior Vice President of ICSB, delivered the welcome speech, expressing gratitude to all participants for their attendance.
Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun FCS, Treasurer and Chairman of the Secretarial Practice Assurance Committee of ICSB, chaired and moderated the workshop, ensuring smooth facilitation of discussions.
The workshop was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities & Exchange Commission (BSEC), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Additionally, Mr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Executive Director of BSEC, and Mr. Khairul Bashar Abu Taher Mohammed, Chief Regulatory Officer of Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC, attended as Special Guests, further enriching the event with their insights.
The Keynote paper presentation was delivered by Mr. Mohammed Nazrul Islam, Additional Director of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), who elaborated on various facets of shareholder meetings in hybrid platforms. The presentation covered crucial topics including objectives, e-governance as a new dimension of corporate governance, legal frameworks, latest circulars and instructions from the Commission, and challenges faced by the platform.
