The curtain on the biggest cricket show, the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 rises today at the biggest cricket venue, Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium, the new capital and power center of Indian cricket.
The tournament will begin with a thrilling clash between the reigning champions England and the runners up New Zealand.
Apart from thousands of spectators on the TV screen all over the world, 1,32000 crowds will have the opportunity to watch the match from the gallery.
According to the earlier schedules, Cricket World Cup 2023 kicks off with rendering the event’s official anthem, 'Dil Jashn Bole', is a fantastic collaboration, starring the internationally celebrated superstar Ranveer Singh in the lead role with the sensational music created by another of Bollywood's most coveted composers Pritam.
It is expected that the anthem will take fans on an epic journey through India on board the One Day Express, witnessing a never seen before celebration ahead of the biggest Cricket World Cup ever.
A total of ten teams, qualified for the final round will compete to prove their powers by facing off against each other in the one and half months long tournament at different venues across India.
There will be 48 matches played across 10 venues.
Where the extravaganza begins today, the final and closing ceremony on November 19th, including some big matches like India vs Pakistan will also be staged at the same venue, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The highest capacity cricket venue in the world, Narendra Modi Stadium just moved over Eden Gardens, Kolkata and Wankhede, Mumbai, once the cricket capitals of India.
Meanwhile, this edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will follow the same format as the previous edition four years ago, meaning that all 10 teams will face off against one another with a new format, which will also be introduced in the next edition, 2027.
This will be the go-around for the 10-team Group Stage which provides 45 entertaining encounters to decide on four semi-finalists with every team playing nine matches. The Group stage will last for six weeks, with ebbs and flows as new contenders emerge.
The ICC have already announced million dollars in prize money for the 13th edition of the Men’s World Cup, along with the trophy.
The champions will be awarded four million US dollars and the runners up team two million US dollars, while the losing semi-finalists will get $800,000 each from the total prize pot of 10 million US dollars.
The biggest Cricket World Cup ever will see prizes for each league match won also. Teams will play each other once in a round-robin format, with the top four making it to the semi-finals.
The winners of each match in the group stage will receive 40,000 US dollars and the six teams that could not qualify for the semi-finals will receive a payment of 100,000 US dollars.
Bangladesh cricket team’s world cup mission will start with the match against Afghanistan on October 5 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium at Dharmashala in Himachal state.
