In preparation for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup scheduled for September-October in Bangladesh, a five-member delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) visited the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The ICC delegation conducted a thorough inspection of the venue, assessing everything from the playing field itself to the spectator galleries and the academy grounds. This comprehensive evaluation aims to ensure the stadium meets all necessary standards for hosting a major international tournament.

Following their visit to Sher-e-Bangla, the delegation plans to travel to Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today, the second venue that will be hosting matches during the World Cup.

Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Chairman of the Women's Division of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), confirmed the delegation's visit.

The Women's T20 World Cup will feature top cricketing nations competing for the coveted title. Hosts Bangladesh will be joined by defending champions Australia, along with England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, and Pakistan, who will all participate directly in the main round. The remaining two teams will qualify through a separate qualifying tournament. This marks a significant moment for Bangladesh cricket, as the country becomes the host of the Women's T20 World Cup after a ten-year hiatus.

The decision was made at the conclusion of the 2022 ICC Annual Meeting held in Birmingham. Additionally, the Australian women's team has already visited Bangladesh as part of their pre-World Cup preparations.
