Satkhira Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Monirul Islam said I want to build a prosperous Satkhira with all of you together. We aim to create a Satkhira free from extortionists and land grabbers.
He said that after joining, I instructed my colleagues to treat everyone well. The police will be humane and people-friendly. Anyone who accepts bribes or engages in corruption will have to leave their job.
The Satkhira SP came up with the assertion while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting, titled ‘Meet the Press,’ arranged by Satkhira district police on Wednesday.
He said we must arrest the extortionists to restore public trust. If everyone cooperates with us in this effort, there will be no problems left. The government fell on August 5. A total of 44 police officers were killed after that and thousands were injured. The police members are terrified. If we want to eliminate discrimination, we need everyone’s effort.
He further said that efforts are underway to boost police morale and restore law and order. There has already been some improvement in law and order in Satkhira. Due to its border location, drugs enter the district, and for this reason, we are vigilant. Our detective branch has already recovered stolen motorcycles and seized drugs successfully. We will not spare anyone involved in drug trafficking. No one will be exempt from any form of extortion, human trafficking, or illegal occupation. Additionally, we are monitoring cyber crimes closely. We are committed to ensuring that no one falls victim to cyber-bullying, and we are taking these matters seriously.
Regarding the upcoming Durga Puja, he said we are ensuring the highest level of security at every puja mandap. If anyone causes any unpleasant incidents during the Durga festival, we will not spare them. We are also trying to ensure that no innocent person faces harassment from the police without cause.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sajib Khan, Satkhira Press Club general secretary Abdul Bari, journalists Abul Kashem, Mashiur Rahman Firoze and others also spoke at the meeting.
