Dhaka International Trade Fair has been buzzed with visitors and buyers on Friday. This has bring relief to the businessmen but most visitors have found violating health safety rules.

Visiting the Dhaka International Trade Fair at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) in Purbachal on Friday, it was observed that the influx of visitors started from the morning. As the day progressed, the crowd of buyers and visitors increased in the fair premises.

The fair includes home textiles, machineries, carpets, cosmetics and beauty products, electrical and electronics products, furniture, jute and jute goods, sanitary, toy stationery, jewelry and processed food. However, the presence of buyers was more seen in the stalls of winter clothes and crockery.

At the entrance of the fair, visitors are being asked to enter the fair wearing a mask following the hygiene rules. However, many of the visitors were not seen following the hygiene rules. Lots of visitors are walking around the fair without masks. Many people use masks when entering the fair, but they are removing them as soon as they enter the fair. Again many have masks on the chin. This increases the risk of coronavirus infection.

Director of the Export Development Bureau (EPB) and also the fair secretary Md Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said, “People are being asked to wear masks at the entrance of the fair. No one is allowed inside without a mask. It is also being monitored whether the hygiene rules are being followed inside the fair or not.”

For the first time, to facilitate the visitors 30 BRTC buses are plying from the Kuril flyover to till the trade fair held at the permanent building in Purbachal every day from 8 am to 10 pm. The fair runs from 10 am to 9 pm.

However, it is being kept open from 10 am to 10 pm on holidays. This time the entrance fee for the fair has been fixed at Tk40 for adults and Tk20 for minors. sDue to Covid-19 pandemic, the number of stalls in the fair has been halved this time. The trade fair has a total of 225 stalls including 23 pavilions, 27 mini pavilions, 162 stalls and 15 food court stalls in different categories. In 2020, there were 463 small and big stalls and pavilions in the fair.
