Police arrested Kutub Uddin, husband of slain housewife Rahena, allegedly for killing her at Goaingaht of Sylhet on Wednesday night (November 25).
Arrested Kutub Uddin has been identified as the son of late Kadir of Kandigram village.
Police informed, on Wednesday night Kutubuddin informed his father-in-law Shafique Mia over the mobile phone that her daughter committed suicide by hanging herself.
Being informed, Rahena's father with Inspector of Police Shafiqul Islam rushed to the spot and saw her daughter Rahena hanging with a rope with the branch of a Chalta tree.
Rahena's father informed, 'hanging of the dead body of Rahena with the branch of a Chalta tree looks suspicious, Police arrested her husband.'
Rahena was married to Kutub Uddin in 2016 and they have a three-year aged daughter.
Meanwhile, arrested Kutub Uddin refuted the allegation brought against him about killing Rahena as false and claimed often during the family feud, 'Rahena threatened to commit suicide. He said, he has no idea about the cause of her suicide.'
Abdul Ahad, Officer-in-charge of Goainghat Police Station informed, father of Rahena claimed the death of his daughter is not natural that is why on the basis of written complaint Reahana's father Shafique Mia, her husband was held.
The dead body of Rahena has been sent to the morgue of Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
