Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Monday laid emphasis on formulating proper planning to best utilize the country's internal resources.
"In the context of existing global and regional geo-economic volatility, we have to concentrate on formulating a proper planning to best utilize our internal resources," he said.
The minister said this while speaking at a meeting with the Board of Directors of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) led by its President Ashraf Ahmed at Industries Ministry in the city, said a press release.
Humayun said that there are a lot of unused plots in the BSCIC industrial areas across the country.
He invited the businessmen, especially the SME entrepreneurs to invest in those plots.
Recognizing SMEs as the lifeline of Bangladesh's economy, he said the government will continue conducting necessary trainings, skill development activities, market expansion and utilization of technology.
He also said that inflation control and stabilizing the local market -- in the upcoming Ramadan season -- is the most priority now and the government is vigorously working for it.
For this he requested the business community to help the government by all means, he added.
During the meeting, DCCI President Ashraf Ahmed expressed DCCI's willingness to fully support initiatives taken by the Ministry of Industries.
He also expressed his keen interest to work on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) issues, productivity enhancement initiatives i.e. national productivity related issues with modern technology adaptation to be more competitive both in the local and international market.
Besides, he stressed for support of various new industries, including fiscal measures like export incentives, customs bonds.
He later urged for expansion of BSCIC industrial area to expand industrialization in the country.
DCCI Senior Vice President Malik Talha Ismail Bari, Vice President Md. Junaed Ibna Ali, members of the board of DCCI, DG of DPDT Md. Munim Hassan, DG of NPO Md. Mesbahul Alam, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Industries Md.
Anwarul Alam were also present during the meeting.
