The Inter-Education Board is set to announce the results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams between October 6 and 9, if all goes as planned.

Due to disruptions caused by ongoing protests demanding government job quota reform and the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, only 7 out of 13 subjects could be examined this year. The Ministry of Education later decided to cancel the remaining exams and use subject mapping for results.

Sources from the board said that the evaluation of the completed exams is nearly finished. A proposal outlining the method for mapping the canceled subjects has been sent to the Ministry of Education for approval. Once approved, the final date for the result announcement will be set.

Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Coordinator of the Inter-Education Board and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, said, "We are ready to release the HSC results in the first week of next month, but it will depend on the Ministry of Education’s decision."

This year’s HSC exams started on June 30 and were progressing smoothly until July 16. However, exams scheduled on July 18, 21, 23, and 25 were postponed due to the quota movement and the government’s fall on August 5, following a mass coup led by the anti-discrimination student movement.

The remaining exams were rescheduled multiple times, with the last date set for August 11. However, students continued to demand the cancellation of the postponed exams, protesting outside the Ministry of Education on August 20. Consequently, the remaining exams were canceled.

This year, 14,50,790 students participated in the HSC exams under nine General, Technical, and Madrasa Education Boards.
